Hello Anastasia,
I thought your presentation on new media and crisis management was really interesting. It was interesting to learn about how new media is, and can be used in crisis management. It was also interesting to learn about the advantages new media offers in handling crises, such as real-time information, flexible access, and so forth. Furthermore, it was interesting to learn about the potential challenges new media may face when it is used in crisis management.

The presentation was good. It was good to learn more on how the government and the outside world can improve and use new media in case of a crisis. Also to learn about the different types of pathway that communication is passed through. New media definitely faces a challenge in exposing too much information that the government might want to keep out to certain people. Hopefully the government can somehow use new media to help them in some way and prevent something like the New Orleans incident from occuring again.

Anastasia,

Your presentation on new media and crisis management was really informative. I agree that informal networks are more useful when it comes to sharing knowledge. People definitely seem to retain more information that way. I also think that the new media is a great way to communicate in an emergency situation. Great job!

New Media has many aspects to it, and I think that the use of it in crisis management is one of the least known ones. Its interesting how something that is commonly used for entertainment and communication may be able to save a humans life. I do believe that new media has a long way ahead of itself in terms of evolution, and it used properly it might be used even to a greater extent than it is used today when it comes to life saving functionality.

Hey Ana,

I like your topic alot. I think that with you enthusisam you gave in this presentation, it would be impossible to find any fault with it. You hit the nail on the head with the crisis management when you used the example of Hurricane Katrina. I think every point you made during the presentation somehow relates to this class, a very good job on that. Thanks for being so nice and helping all of us with the Wiki.
